A Custom 7 Piece Set of Lauffer 18/8 Norway Vantage Flatware same as Norstaal Aztec Pattern Stainless
This listing is for A CUSTOM 7-PIECE SET OF FLATWARE, including the following specific pieces: place knife (3), salad fork (2), dinner fork (2).
I also have dozens of individual pieces available. You can order as many pieces as you need to complete your set. The vintage pieces in this listing are all marked Lauffer Norway. I also have matching Aztec marked pieces available in my other listings.
This classic mid-century modern design was created by the famous designer Don Wallance in 1966. Originally Lauffer contracted Norstaal to manufacture this pattern in Norway. In America it was called the Vantage pattern, and those pieces were marked "Lauffer." In Europe it was called the Aztec pattern, and those pieces were marked "Aztec." The Lauffer marked pieces as well as the Aztec marked pieces were both made at the same factory. The only difference that I can detect between the Vantage and Aztec pieces is that the Aztec dinner knife has a serrated edge, while the Vantage dinner knife has a plain edge. Later on, the Stelton company continued to make this pattern. I do not have any of the newer Stelton-made pieces. All of my pieces are old, vintage pieces.
Please ignore any lighting challenges in the photos. The pieces in a standard five-place setting are as follows….
A Teaspoon is about 6-1/4 inches long.
A Soup or Place Spoon is about 7-5/8 inches long.
A Dinner or Place Knife is about 8-1/4 inches long.
A Dinner Fork is about 7-1/2 inches long.
A Salad or Dessert Fork is about 6-3/8 inches long.
Here are the measurements for the extended pieces in this pattern….
A Butter Knife is about 6-13/16 inches long.
A Cold Meat / Cocktail Serving Fork is about 8-3/8 inches long.
A Demitasse (coffee spoon) is about 4-11/16 inches long.
A Long Iced Tea Spoon is about 8 inches long.
A Gravy Serving Ladle is about 7 inches long.
A Salad or Casserole Serving Spoon is about 9-1/2 inches long.
A Salad Serving Fork is about 9-1/2 inches long.
A Sugar Spoon is about 6 inches long.
A Table Serving Spoon is about 7-7/8 inches long.
All pieces were made with high quality stainless steel in Bergen, Norway. Most pieces are made of 18-8 stainless steel, which holds up very well with age. The knives were made with a slightly different composition of stainless steel, therefore, it is common for knife blades from this era to have some tiny black spots. Each piece is hand-finished and shows very minor variations. There is also some variation in the manufacturer markings on some pieces. The markings on the knives are so light that they are almost invisible in some cases. If you are trying to match a specific marking, I will do my best to accommodate. These pieces will look great on your table or in your collection.
Purchase the exact pieces that you need to complete your set. I have more matching pieces available: Click here to see my other Vantage / Aztec flatware listings.
